Amakye Dede to receive Lifetime Achievement Award at 25th TGMA

Tonight, we are celebrating the 25th year of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards! An important moment tonight will be giving out the top award to famous Highlife musician, Amakye Dede.

Amakye Dede to receive Lifetime Achievement Award at 25th TGMA

Amakye Dede has been making great music in Ghana for more than 50 years now. In the beginning, he was part of the well-known Highlife band, Kumapim Royals, which was run by Akwasi Ampofo Agyei (AAA). Later, he formed his own popular group named the Apollo High Kings.

In all, Amakye Dede has made 20 albums filled with amazing songs. He has greatly influenced how people make Highlife music, inspiring many other artists and listeners too. Fans often call him "Iron Boy." 

Over the years, Iron Boy has tried new types of music, like soca, calypso, and lovers rock, blending them beautifully with traditional Highlife sounds. Some of his best-loved tunes are "Iron Boy," "God Will Help You," "What Have I Done?", "Go Down Dance," "Woman Is Like That," and "Say Something Nice About Me."

Tonight, let's celebrate the fantastic skills and long-lasting passion of Amakye Dede during the 25th Telecel Ghana Music Awards hosted by Charter House together with help from Guinness, Captain Morgan, CloseUp, TV3, British Council, and presented by Telecel, who bring energy to life.
