My son now has a better mom because of Islam – Akuapem Poloo

Ghanaian actress and social media star, previously recognized as Akuapem Poloo but now identified as Haniya in Islam, has been significantly moved by her recent trip to Mecca for Umrah, an important religious journey similar to the Hajj pilgrimage.

Haniya opened up about her emotional experiences during an interview with Graphic Showbiz, revealing how her time in Mecca transformed her perspective and filled her with deep appreciation. Among her most memorable moments were walking between the hills of Safah and Marwa and touching the holy Kaaba shrine.

Since converting to Islam, Haniya says her life has taken a turn for the better. The religion's influence has led her away from alcohol consumption, made her a more mindful mom, and inspired greater admiration from both her real-life peers and online following. These improvements are just some examples of the many benefits she gained through her embrace of Islam.

Recalling her transformation, Haniya pointed out notable shifts including giving up drinking, becoming a more attentive parent, and receiving increased respect from her internet fanbase – all direct outcomes of her faith journey.

At first, adjusting to certain aspects of Islamic practice proved challenging. However, thanks to the help of knowledgeable Islamic figures and unyielding encouragement from her fellow Muslims, Haniya found joy in practicing her new beliefs, flaws and all.

She elaborated: "The early days presented obstacles when learning Islamic customs and principles. But with persistence, dedication, and valuable assistance from mentors guiding my conversion process and supportive friendships within the Muslim community, I now find comfort and pleasure in these rituals."

Highlighting Islam's magnificence, Haniya marveled at its emphasis on monotheistic worship and serenity she unearthed along her devout journey.

Filled with boundless thankfulness for her enlightening experience, she offered warm regards to Allah, Chief Imam Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu for his wisdom, and Alhaji Abdul Salam for making her pilgrimage possible.
